Common Questions About Tattoo Removal
How many tattoo removal sessions will I need?
This depends on the size, color, ink density, and location of your tattoo, as well as your skin type and immune response. Most clients require between 6–10 sessions spaced 6–8 weeks apart. We’ll give you a realistic estimate during your free consultation.
Why can’t you guarantee 100% removal?
We typically achieve 90% clearance or greater. The remaining pigment is often not ink at all — it can be scar tissue left behind from the original tattooing process, which no laser can fully address. The good news is that additional treatments, including some we offer at TruCanvas, can help get you that last 10% of clearance. Factors like the original artist’s technique, ink composition, and your immune system all play a role, and we’re always transparent about what to expect before you begin.
How does PicoSure tattoo removal work?
PicoSure delivers ultra-fast pulses of laser energy in picoseconds (trillionths of a second), shattering ink particles into microscopic fragments. Your body’s immune system then naturally flushes them away over the following weeks, gradually fading the tattoo.
Does tattoo removal hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as similar to a rubber band snap or a quick burst of heat. We use cryo air cooling to keep you as comfortable as possible during treatment. Numbing cream is great too, it would just have to be applied 60-90 min prior to the treatment.
Are all tattoo colors removable?
PicoSure is effective on a wider range of ink colors than traditional lasers, including stubborn blues, greens, and dark blacks. Some colors like light yellows and whites are more resistant. We’ll assess your specific tattoo during your consultation.
